Lifeline Assistance

About Lifeline

Eligible low-income customers can qualify for a discount on their local telephone and/or internet services. Lifeline is a federal government assistance program.

Through the Lifeline program, qualifying customers can receive a $9.25 monthly discount on internet service, or bundled internet and telephone service.

Qualifying for Lifeline

You can qualify for Lifeline if you use any of these federal assistance programs:

  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
  • Medicaid
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Federal Public Housing Assistance
  • Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit

You may also qualify for Lifeline if your income is 135% or less than the federal poverty guidelines.

You will need to show proof of participation in one of the qualifying programs or proof of income when applying for lifeline.

Internet

The Lifeline discount is non-transferable and is limited to one discount per household. If someone at your address already receives lifeline but you are part of separate households (e.g., roommates with separate finances) you may still qualify for Lifeline. Complete the Household Worksheet or Household Worksheet - Spanish to determine if there is more than one household at your address.
